Homemade Cream


Milk is the main source for making cream, and cream is a thick white substance used in making sweets. Since cream is one of the old industries that are prepared in homes, it is now canned and sold in commercial markets.

Cream can be made at home in large quantities without having to buy it from the market in an easy and light way and kept in the refrigerator until used with qatayef, kunafa, jam, etc. Cream is usually prepared in different ways, including using milk and starch, or from milk only and is called Arabic cream and has a special way of making it.

How to make cream with starch


💠 Ingredients:
  • Four cups of liquid milk.
  • Four tablespoons of starch.
  • A spoonful of sugar.
💠 How to prepare:
  • Dissolve the amount of starch in a cup of cold milk and stir well, put the entire amount of milk in a bowl and over low heat, stir the milk and before it reaches boiling point, add the cup of cold milk with the starch dissolved in it, and stir the ingredients well until its consistency thickens, leave it to cool and use it with Qatayef or put it in a box and keep it in the refrigerator, this method is called homemade cream.

How to make cooked cream


💠 Ingredients:
  • Three cups of liquid milk.
  • Half a cup of starch.
  • Half a cup of cold water.
  • A tablespoon of butter.
  • A teaspoon of vanilla.
  • A spoonful of sugar.
💠 How to prepare:
  • Over low heat, put the butter, milk, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and stir well.
  •  Dissolve the starch in a cup of cold water well so that the starch does not clump, and add it to the ingredients in the pot while boiling, and continue stirring until the mixture is consistent and its consistency thickens, and spread it in a tray until it cools and put it in containers and store it in the refrigerator.

Syrian cream or cinnamon bun method


💠 Ingredients:
  • Six cups of liquid milk.
  • Half a cup of starch.
  • A cup of powdered sugar (as desired).
  • Two tablespoons of rose water.
  • A tablespoon of orange blossom water.
💠 How to prepare:
  • Make sure to put five cups of liquid milk in a pot and let it boil, then add the sugar and stir well until it dissolves.
  • Add the starch to the remaining cup of cold milk and whisk it well until it dissolves, and put the cup of milk with the starch dissolved in it on the boiling milk, and continue stirring over medium heat until the starch is consistent and the mixture becomes sticky and thick.
  •  Add rose water and orange blossom water and mix well until it is distributed throughout the mixture, let it cool and distribute it in boxes and store it in the refrigerator.
  • Note: This method is famous among the people of the Levant and is called Syrian Muhalla, and it is also called Cinnabon and is served with sweets that contain cinnamon, as the cream adds a delicious and light taste that melts in the mouth and is healthy and rich in calcium, which is beneficial for the body.
