Fava Beans


Fava beans are considered a popular food spread in Arab countries. It is an essential dish in Egyptian culture. It is served as an essential part of breakfast. Each country differs from the other in the way it is prepared, and restaurants specialize in serving it alongside hummus in the morning. In this article, we present to you how to prepare canned beans.


How to make canned Fava beans


💠Ingredients:

🔹A can of fava beans, large or small.

🔹Small onion.

🔹Two cloves of garlic.

🔹Olive oil, or a little ghee.

🔹Half a teaspoon of fine cumin.

🔹Half a teaspoon of black pepper.

🔹A piece of tomato.

🔹Half a tablespoon of tomato paste.

💠Tahini

🔹Three tablespoons of tahini.

🔹Three teaspoons of cream.

🔹Two teaspoons of yogurt.

🔹A teaspoon of vinegar, or lemon juice.

💠Preparation:

🔹Chop a small onion with two cloves of garlic, and fry them with a little oil until they turn yellow.

🔹Put fine cumin, black pepper, and tomatoes on it, then add the tomato paste with salt, then add the fava beans and stir them together, adding a little water if needed.

💠Prepare the tahini mixture:

🔹Mix all the ingredients, then put the beans on the plate with the tahini mixture on it, sprinkle fine cumin on it, add olive oil, then decorate the plate with chopped tomatoes.

How to make dried fava beans


 💠Ingredients:

 🔹A cup and a half of dried beans.

 🔹A quarter teaspoon of baking soda.

 🔹Juice of two lemons.

 🔹Two tomatoes, finely chopped.

 🔹A bunch of fresh parsley, finely chopped.

 🔹Half a cup of olive oil.

 🔹Three cloves of crushed garlic.

 🔹A pinch of salt.

 💠Preparation:

 🔹Soak the fava beans for a whole day in warm water.

 🔹Add the fava beans, wash them with water, transfer them to a large pot, add two liters of water and eight cups, and leave the mixture to boil over the fire.

 🔹Add the baking soda and let the beans cook gently over low heat for four hours.

 🔹Drain the beans from the water and transfer them to a large serving bowl.

 🔹Mix garlic and lemon in another bowl, add salt, then pour them over the  fava beans.

 🔹Add the tomatoes and parsley and spread the oil on the plate.

 🔹Serve the dish with Lebanese bread and green onions on the side.

How to make falafel


 💠Ingredients:

 🔹Two cups of canned beans.

 🔹Half a small bunch of dill.

 🔹Half a small bunch of green coriander.

 🔹Small bunch of leeks.

 🔹Finely chopped onion.

 🔹Three large cloves of garlic.

 🔹Half a teaspoon of salt.

 🔹A quarter teaspoon of white pepper.

 🔹A quarter teaspoon of cumin.

 🔹Half a teaspoon of dry coriander.

 🔹A quarter teaspoon of crushed chili pepper.

 🔹Half a teaspoon of baking powder.

 🔹Unroasted sesame (optional).

 🔹Plenty of oil for frying.

 💠Preparation:

 🔹Mash the beans well, then put them in an electric blender or food processor.

 🔹Chop the onions with the coriander, dill, and dill, then add them to the beans in the blender and mix.

 🔹Add all the spices and mix well.

 🔹Place the mixture in the refrigerator for at least an hour.

 🔹Add half a spoon of baking soda before frying and mix well.

 🔹Take a little dough with a spoon or a special falafel mold and fry it in abundant hot oil.
