 Shakshuka is a very simple, quick-to-prepare popular dish, and its origins go back to Egyptian cuisine. It has been famous among Egyptians since ancient times, and in the entire North African region as well. This dish consists mainly of eggs; So it is rich in protein.


The name egg shakshuka varies from one country to another. In Tunisia, it is called Nabeul shakshuka. Egg shakshuka is eaten as a main meal at breakfast or dinner. In addition, it can be served as a side dish as well, and since this dish is famous in several Arab countries, there have been many ways to prepare it, by adding new ingredients to it. Egg shakshuka can be prepared with minced meat or with eggplant, and in this article we will mention to you an easy, distinctive and delicious way to prepare this dish.


Preparing egg shakshuka


💠Ingredients:

🔹Four eggs.

🔹Two finely chopped onions.

🔹Two tablespoons of chopped parsley.

🔹A large tomato, finely chopped.

🔹A clove of crushed garlic.

 ðŸ”¹Half a teaspoon of fine chili pepper.

 ðŸ”¹Half a teaspoon of ground ginger.

 ðŸ”¹A tablespoon of olive oil.

 ðŸ”¹Half a teaspoon of fine cinnamon.

 ðŸ”¹A teaspoon of salt.

 ðŸ’ Preparation:

 ðŸ”¹Put a frying pan on the fire, add olive oil to it and heat it a little.

 ðŸ”¹Add the chopped onions and stir until they wilt a little.

 ðŸ”¹Add the crushed garlic after the onions have wilted, ginger, hot pepper, and cinnamon, and stir them well until all the ingredients are mixed together.

 ðŸ”¹Next, add the tomatoes, stir the mixture a little, then add salt.

 ðŸ”¹Keep the mixture on the fire, and in the meantime, beat four eggs with a fork in a plate.

 ðŸ”¹Add the beaten eggs to the mixture in the pan, stir well, then add the parsley and stir the mixture until the eggs are cooked.

 ðŸ”¹Serve the egg shakshuka while it is hot, and garnish it with chopped parsley or any type of vegetable you prefer.

Egg shakshuka with cheese

 ðŸ”¹Two cups of any type of cheese available (cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, or cream cheese).

 ðŸ”¹Cut the onions and fry them over the fire, then add the chopped tomatoes.

 ðŸ”¹Add the mixed spices you prefer with salt, then add the egg wash and stir the mixture well, then add any type of cheese you prefer.

 ðŸ”¹Put parsley at the end so that it does not wither.

Rice and eggs shakshuka


 ðŸ’ Ingredients:

 ðŸ”¹Four eggs.

 ðŸ”¹Four tomatoes, beaten with a blender.

 ðŸ”¹Onion.

 ðŸ”¹Two tablespoons of ghee.

 ðŸ”¹A pinch of salt and pepper.

 ðŸ”¹A tablespoon of chopped parsley.

 ðŸ”¹A quarter cup of water.

 ðŸ”¹Two tablespoons of rice.

 ðŸ’ Preparation:

 ðŸ”¹Melt the ghee in a frying pan, add the onions, stir, then add the tomato juice, then add the water and rice, salt and pepper, and leave it until the rice is cooked.

 ðŸ”¹Beat the eggs with parsley and eggs in yogurt and add them to the pan. Fry the eggs until cooked, then serve them.

 ðŸ’ŽNote: Egg shakshuka can be prepared, as we mentioned above, with vegetables. Among the vegetables suggested for making shakshuka are: spinach, eggplant, potatoes, and carrots, depending on the person’s desire.
