Delicious Sahlab | Sofrat hadhramia
Sahlab with blossom water
đź’ Ingredients:
- Three cups of liquid milk.
- Three tablespoons of starch.
- A third of a cup of sugar.
- A tablespoon of orange blossom water.
- A sprinkle of fine coconut for decoration.
- A sprinkle of cinnamon for decoration.
đź’ Preparation:
- Put the milk, sugar and starch in a medium-sized thick-bottomed pot over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens.
- Remove the pot from the heat, add the orange blossom water and stir the sahlab, then pour it into serving cups.
- Sprinkle cinnamon and coconut, then serve.
Chocolate Sahlab
đź’ Ingredients:
- Three cups of liquid milk.
- Three tablespoons of starch.
- A third of a cup of sugar.
- A tablespoon and a half of plain cocoa powder.
- Crushed hazelnuts for decoration.
đź’ Preparation:
- Put the milk, sugar, starch and cocoa powder in a thick-bottomed pot over low heat, stirring constantly with a hand whisk until it thickens.
- Remove the pot from the heat, then pour the sahlab into serving cups.
- Sprinkle the crushed hazelnuts over the cups, then serve.
Sahlab with Cardamom
đź’ Ingredients:
- Four cups of milk.
- Two teaspoons of sahlab powder.
- Two teaspoons of sugar.
- Half a teaspoon of ground cardamom.
- Four teaspoons of grated coconut.
- A teaspoon of ground cinnamon.
- A teaspoon of ground ginger.
đź’ Preparation:
- Put the milk in a pot and let it boil over medium heat.
- Put the sahlab powder, sugar and cardamom in a small deep plate and stir until the sugar mixes with the sahlab powder. This helps prevent it from clumping and the sahlab dissolves quickly when added to the milk.
- Add the sahlab, sugar and cardamom mixture to the boiling milk and stir quickly until the sugar dissolves and the milk thickens slightly, stirring constantly over low heat for five minutes.
- Pour the sahlab into cups, and decorate with coconut, cinnamon and ginger.
Rich chocolate sahlab pudding
đź’ Ingredients:
- Two cups of milk.
- Four egg yolks.
- A quarter cup of sugar.
- A teaspoon of vanilla.
- Two tablespoons of sahlab powder.
- Six bars of dark, smooth and chopped chocolate.
đź’ Preparation:
- Boil the milk over medium heat.
- Beat the egg yolks and sugar until the mixture becomes creamy.
- Add the sahlab powder to the egg and sugar mixture and continue whisking until the mixture is well combined.
- Pour the milk over the mixture and stir well to mix it, and put the mixture on the fire.
- Add the vanilla and whisk continuously until the mixture boils, then remove it from the fire.
- Add the chocolate to the pot and whisk it, then pour the mixture into individual serving cups.
- Leave the pudding to cool, then place it in the refrigerator and decorate it with grated chocolate.
Sahlab Mousse with Dates
đź’ Ingredients:
- Three hundred grams of milk.
- Sixty grams of sahlab powder.
- One hundred grams of sugar.
- Four teaspoons of gelatin dissolved in warm water.
- Half a cup of dates, cut into large pieces.
- Date molasses.
- Twenty-five milliliters of rose water.
đź’ Preparation:
- Leave the milk and sugar to boil over medium heat.
- Add the sahlab powder to the mixture just before it boils, and stir the mixture constantly until it thickens slightly.
- Remove the mixture from the heat and add rose water to it, and leave the mixture to cool.
- Add the dissolved gelatin and dates to the mixture when it becomes warm and stir well.
- Pour the mixture into the desired molds or cups.
- Decorate the sahlab by putting a little date molasses.
