Garlic


Garlic is a perennial annual plant from the lily family, as it is rich in vitamins and minerals such as phosphorus and calcium, and works as an antibiotic against diseases such as heart disease, and strengthens the immune system in the body, and reduces cholesterol in the blood, and its original home is in Central Asia and later spread throughout the countries of the world.

Garlic is used in preparing many foods and making many pickles, and it is also one of the plants that can be pickled, so in this article we will mention ways to make garlic pickles.

Pickled garlic

đź’ Ingredients:
  • A kilogram of garlic.
  • Two lemons cut into rings.
  • A cup of lemon juice.
  • A cup of white vinegar.
  • Warm water.
  • Salt.
đź’ Preparation:
  • Choose large garlic cloves that are easy to peel.
  • Peel and wash the garlic, then put it in the pickling jar with the lemon rings in layers.
  • Add lemon juice and vinegar.
  • Add warm water to the remaining empty space of the jar, where you put two teaspoons of coarse salt in every two cups of water.
  • Cover the jar well with a piece of plastic, and leave it at room temperature for a week or ten days, and keep it in the refrigerator after the end of the pickling period so that it lasts as long as possible without being exposed to damage.

Pickled garlic with green thyme

đź’ Ingredients:
  • Half a kilogram of peeled garlic.
  • Half a tablespoon of each of: green thyme, salt, and sugar.
  • 2 teaspoons of vinegar.
  • Black peppercorns - as desired.
đź’ Preparation:
  • Put some water on the fire, and leave it until it boils well.
  • Add the garlic to the boiling water, and leave it on the fire for five minutes.
  • Drain the garlic from the boiling water, then put it in the pickling jar, and add cold water, vinegar, green thyme, sugar, and salt.
  • Close the jar and leave it for a week.

Garlic Pickle with Basil Leaves

đź’ Ingredients:
  • 2 kilograms of peeled garlic.
  • Half a cup of lemon juice.
  • A cup of basil leaves.
  • Four green hot peppers - as desired-.
  • A quarter cup of coriander seeds.
  • A quarter cup of green thyme.
  • Four teaspoons of sugar.
  • Eight teaspoons of salt.
  • Two and a half liters of water.
  • Half a cup of vinegar.
  • A quarter cup of bay leaves.
  • A quarter cup of black peppercorns.
đź’ Preparation:
  • Make a slit in the middle of each garlic clove using a knife.
  • Mix the sugar, salt, lemon juice, water, and vinegar in a bowl.
  • Fill the pickling jar with garlic, coriander seeds, thyme leaves, bay leaves, basil, green hot pepper, and black peppercorns.
  • Pour the water mixture over the jar, close it tightly, and store it at a medium temperature for ten days, then serve it as a side dish on your dining table when eating lunch or dinner.
